Golf: Rolex Israeli Open November 2008

The Rolex Israeli Open Golf Championships were held at the Ga'ash Golf Club in later November. The four-day event attracted 80 participants from Israel and abroad.
The tournament provided plenty of excitement with some titles being won on the last hole of the fourth and final round. In the Men's Division 15-year-old Asaf Cohen of Israel beat 18-year -old Sebastian Leuthaeuser who hails from Munich. Six professionals attended Israel PGA professional open tournament including the 2005 Maccabiah winner Andy Nemiroff. Like Cohen, Oren Geri, in from Florida for the event stormed back on the final hole to take first place with an amazing 11 meter putt. The Men's Masters Division was won by Ron Solomon who shot an excellent final round of 68.
In the Ladies' Junior Division 13-year-old Hadas Libman of Or Akiva took first place while in the Senior Division Catherine Lurie of London took home the win.
At the prize ceremony tournament chairman Gil Perez and Dr. Cyril Kaufman head of the Israel Golf Federation thanked Golf Ga'ash for doing a fantastic job of hosting the tournament with a special mention to the grounds crew for keeping the course in top condition in spite of some uncooperative weather.
