Although Israel enjoys a Mediterranean climate, Israel weather varies with the season and from the coastal plain to the interior mountains and south though the desert. Israel weather is most comfortable during the spring and autumn seasons when pleasant temperatures prevail and there is only occasional rain. Winters in the north, in the Judean Hills and the Jerusalem area can be cool and even cold. Winter often sees light to heavy rains in the north, along the coast and in Jerusalem. Usually the rainy days are broken by many sunny days and an unbroken string of rainy days is very unusual. Snow, while rare, sometimes blankets the northern mountains and Jerusalem. Israel weather in the summer can be very hot, especially in the south. The heat along the coastal plain is humid while in the desert the humidity is very low. The Red Sea resort of Eilat has a good climate for beach holidays almost all year round.
The weather in most of Israel is not extreme by any standards, so that the Israeli winter compares to what New Yorkers would call "Autumn". Summer in Israel is HOT and in some of the country it is humid as well.
December - February: Winter
In Israel weather terms winter means temperatures of between 5-18 degrees Celsius in Tel Aviv, Caesarea and the coastal area or 41 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Jerusalem is colder with temperatures ranging from 3-12 degrees Celsius or 35 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
March- May: Spring
By all accounts spring is the nicest season of the year, with very comfortable and pleasant weather. Temperature in Tel Aviv, Caesarea and the coastal area is usually between 16 to 24 degrees Celsius or 61 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. As in the winter the Jerusalem temperatures tend to be several degrees cooler.
June- August (and sometimes September): Summer
Summer is hot in Israel! The humidity along the coast can make the heat seem oppressive. In Jerusalem the lower humidity level lessens the effect. The temperature in Tel Aviv, Caesarea and the coastal area is usually between 24 to 35 degrees Celsius or 75 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. While Jerusalem can be either hotter or cooler than Tel Aviv the lower humidity and evening cooling makes for a more pleasant summer experience.
September- November: Autumn
The Israel weather in autumn is similar to the weather in the spring. Sometimes there may be some early rain. Temperatures in Tel Aviv range usually from 16 to 24 degrees Celsius or 61 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Jerusalem and the Golan Heights can be several degrees cooler
